Sifu/Guro Michael Berkery studying Japanese Kyushu in 1971 at age 16. He then trained in Tae Kwon Do for four years, and Northern Shaolin Chang Chuan (long fist) for sixteen years becoming the main focus of his study until 1991 at which time he was invited to attend a seminar at the Kali Academy of Martial Arts hosted by Sifu/Guro Bud Thompson and instructed by Guro Dan Inosanto. It made illuminating connections of all his past experiences.
